Turn a holiday into a fun zone

-

LI-VE Tasmania’s new Holiday Zone program takes school vacation support to a whole new level.

The Holiday Zone offers a broad range of highly interactive, fun, inclusionfocused activities for children living with disability.

The program also provides activities and peer support for the siblings of children living with disability.

Working mum Kylie Moore said balancing work and childcare could be challenging.

“The Holiday Zone is an exciting new approach to genuinely inclusive school holiday support,” she said.

“Not only will children like my son, Lochie, enjoy the fun and friendship the program offers, but the activities also have the potential to spark children’s longer-term interest.”

The Holiday Zone will run throughout January in three parts:

A JAM-PACKED, full-day, centre-based program of sport, cooking, arts and crafts, and outdoor activities — all of which can be tailored to suit individual needs.

A CHANCE to “come and try’’ new activities — bringing together children living with disability, school-aged mentors and specialist coaches.

ACTIVITIES for siblings of children living with disability.

“The Holiday Zone is a unique opportunity for children like Lochie to try a range of mainstream activities, from baking to basketball, in a safe, inclusive and personalised way,’’ Kylie said.

“Plus Lochie’s sister Chloe is excited to try the siblings program.”

Li-Ve Tasmania is offering the Holiday Zone in partnership with Southern Support School, Tascare, Young Leaders of Tasmania and Special Olympics.

These organisations are working together to produce an exceptional offering for children living with disability and their families, under the Holiday Zone umbrella.
