Curry on court, but Warriors outclassed

-

BLAKE Griffin scored 26 points as the Detroit Pistons spoiled Stephen Curry’s return from injury yesterday by beating the Golden State Warriors 111-102 in the NBA.

Curry (pictured above) was back for the defending champions after missing 11 games with a groin strain. He scored 27 points on 10-of-21 shooting.

“It felt good to be back out there, but in the first half I was going 100 miles an hour without my timing being back,” he said. “In the second half, I played a lot closer to where I want to be. The shots started falling and I was aggressive without making stupid plays.”

Andre Drummond had 16 points and 19 rebounds to help Detroit win its fifth straight and improve to 13-7.

“That’s obviously a great win,” Griffin said.

Kevin Durant scored 28 points for Golden State and Klay Thompson added 21 as the Warriors lost their ninth game this season.

Kawhi Leonard scored 34 points as the Toronto Raptors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 106-95, despite the absence of All-Star guard Kyle Lowry. Fred Van-Vleet, Danny Green and Pascal Siakam all added 15 points as an eighth win in succession took Toronto’s league-best record to 20-4.

Emmanuel Mudiay scored 28 points to lead the New York Knicks to a 136-134 overtime win over the visiting Milwaukee Bucks.
