THE Positive Bod Squad is hosting a gathering for 100 Hobart women and girls in “a judgment-free zone” to show them that they are not alone in their insecurities.

The sold-out public event, supported by Relationships Australia Tasmania, will be held at Mawson’s Waterside Pavilion tomorrow.

The Positive Bod Squad was started by Gemma Nester and Kate Fox to educate and change the way women speak about their appearance and the appearance of other women around them.

Mrs Nester said the event was about starting a conversation between women to help them change the way they speak about their bodies to themselves, each other and in front of impressionable young minds.

“We’re going to have one guest speaker from each age group answering questions about their own insecurities in hope that it will help others in the audience realise they’re not alone,” Mrs Nester said.

“We want to give young girls realistic role models and show them that they don’t need to be flawless and perfect as shown on photoshop, in filters and with photography manipulation.”

The Positive Bod Squad also plans to roll out an education program in schools teaching students to see themselves in a positive light before they are faced with the pressures of social media and their peers, but are seeking public funding. To donate contact Relationships Australia Tasmania.
