Partnership to develop hidden gem

- EMILY BAKER

BRUNY Island Long Weekend is set to expand thanks to a new partnership with the Tasmanian Walking Company.

Tasmanian Walking Company said its investment in the three-day walk and luxury camping experience would see the tourism businesses “collaborate, develop and manage the operation”.

Bruny Island Long Weekend owner Rob Knight said he was excited to team up with the walking company.

“Adventure tourism is a growing sector and Bruny Island Long Weekend will now realise its full potential under this new partnership,” Mr Knight said.

“I started the business on my own in 2013, and I am looking forward to moving into the next phase of expansion and growth with the support and guidance of a partner who equally values and appreciates the natural ecosystem.”

Tasmanian Walking Company general manager Heath Garratt said: “Rob has created a hidden gem where raw, natural beauty is in abundance, and together we share a determination to continue raising the profile of guided walks with outstanding environmental credentials.”

Bruny Island Long Weekend takes walkers on a 35km journey along the island’s coastline, rainforest and Mt Mangana.

Tasmanian Walking Company operates four of 12 Great Walks of Australia.
