Hope not motivated by the past

- BRETT STUBBS

MO Hope says she has no point to prove to anyone.

The crafty forward was billed as one of the stars of the AFLW when it began two seasons ago after being signed as a marquee player for Collingwood.

However, after 15 goals in 13 games across two seasons, which saw her being dropped from the Pies last season, Hope swapped her black and white stripes for the North Melbourne-Tasmania Kangaroos and will be an integral part of their AFLW debut against Carlton at North Hobart Oval on February 3.

However, the 30-year-old said she was not out to make a statement at her new club.

“No point to prove, I’m one of 30 girls,” Hope said. “I’ll play my part as my coaches need me and what the girls expect of me.

“I’m training well, I’m feeling well but I’m never out to prove a point because again I’m just one of 30 so as long as I do what’s right by the team that’s all that counts.”

The Roos’ first game is just eight weeks away and will be held at the spiritual home of Tasmanian football, North Hobart Oval.

Hope said there was a real sense of anticipation around the team’s debut match against the Blues.

“I know how passionate Tasmanians are about their footy and when I pull on that jersey I’ll be thinking th t of them and I’ll be pretty excited e about it,” she said.

“I honestly can’t wait and technically te t six weeks of training left but b I wish it was next week and I’m excited e for it.”

Hope, and other members of the squad sq visited Hobart’s Ronald McDonald House while in town for their th pre-season camp.
