Trump attacks claims of collusion
MONDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2018 US PRESIDENT Donald Trump has furiously attacked claims his presidential campaign colluded with Russian operatives, but faced more questions on whether he organised hush payments to ward off a possible sex scandal.
Mr Trump (pictured) took to Twitter, his favourite means of communication, to address the multiple court filings that dropped on Friday in connection with special counsel Robert Mueller’s sweeping investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
“AFTER TWO YEARS AND MILLIONS OF PAGES OF DOCUMENTS (and a cost of over $30,000,000), NO COLLUSION!” he tweeted.
The filings did not appear to reveal evidence of collusion but did offer a wealth of new information about what Mr Mueller’s team is looking into, along with other federal prosecutors in New York.
The revelations come amid another turbulent week for the White House with reports Mr Trump’s chief of staff John Kelly will leave his job by the end of the year following a deterioration of his relationship with the President.
Prosecutors have now directly implicated Mr Trump in efforts to buy the silence of two women who claimed they had affairs with him, saying he directed his then-lawyer Michael Cohen to offer them hush money.
