Buckingham back with solid win over Beltana

BUCKINGHAM returned to form with a strong 12-shot win over Beltana in Bowls Tasmania South’s Premier Division on Saturday.

Isaac Maughan had a comprehens­ive 10-shot win over Shane Young. Jorja Maughan again showed her class leading from the front to set up the win. Michael Taylor was outstandin­g in defeating Scott Summers by five shots and Alvin Cooke had a thrilling one-shot win over Paul Williamson.

Glenorchy Rodman had a 27-shot win against Howrah. Cam Tegg played brilliantl­y to defeat Morgan Williams by 26 shots and Luke Turner beat Dale Maundrill by 12 shots. After 16 ends, Grant Allford trailed by seven shots but won the last five ends to defeat John McKibben by four shots. Simon Butler defeated Tony Vince by 13 shots to secure two points for Howrah.

An undermanne­d Sandy Bay defeated Kingboroug­h by 19 shots. With good support from Phil Manning and Brad Mabb chipping in with some lovely conversion shots, Andrew Norris defeated Ryan Guy by 12 shots. Ryan McCoull got off to a flyer against Jarod Long, leading by 12 shots at the break. Long fought back but McCoull finished strongly to win by six shots.

After a slow start, Josh Mabb got on top of Will Coad, winning by six shots. Jason Fowler came from eight shots down to salvage two points for Kingboroug­h, beating Bryce Guy by five shots.

New Norfolk stormed home against Brighton to win by two shots.

And Rosny Park defeated North Hobart by 24 shots.
