Eastern rivals on top

EASTERN Shore rivals Lindisfarn­e and Clarence have cleared out at the top of the CTPL ladder after both registered victories in their respective matches yesterday.

The Lightning consigned the Greater Northern Raiders to their second outright defeat of the season, picking up 10 points at Anzac Park to pull further ahead of the Roos.

Resuming at 2-210 and already armed with a 78-run lead, the hosts pushed their score to 7-281 before declaring, with Mac Wright, who took a miserly 3-11 from 12.3 overs in the first innings, cracking 110 from 148 balls in a dominant all-round display.

The Raiders fared little better in their second innings, again lacking enough contributo­rs to be bowled out for 164, leaving Lindisfarn­e to pick of the remaining 15 runs required in 11 balls.

Down the road at Kangaroo Bay, Clarence recovered from losing both overnight batsman without adding to the total to get across the line against Kingboroug­h.

Chasing 198 for victory and picking up at 2-50, Harry Allanby and Michael Jones both fell in the first overs of the morning for 20, before Alec Smith came to the rescue to steer the Roos home.

Smith finished unbeaten on 79 to hold the chase together.

North Hobart picked up its second win on the trot by accounting for University.

Defending 274, the Demons dismissed the Lions for 209 in reply, with James Faulkner (62) top-scoring as Ben Fraser finished with 6-70.
