Hurricanes ready to ride out storm

HURRICANES players and fans hope the rain holds off for today’s WBBL double-header at Blundstone Arena, with Hobart taking on the Sydney Sixers under lights.

It is a big weekend for Tassie cricket, which is celebratin­g Lindisfarn­e’s Keegan Oates being named the nation’s best under-19 player.

THE action will be hot on the field and the entertainm­ent exciting off it when the WBBL rolls into Hobart today.

Cricket Australia’s WBBL weekend roadshow hits Blundstone Arena following huge success in Melbourne and Sydney, with a doublehead­er of matches featuring the Adelaide Strikers against the Sydney Thunder before the hometown heroes Hobart clash with Sydney Sixers under lights tonight.

Fans will get the chance to meet the Hurricanes women’s and men’s stars while there will be a host of activities on offer for kids.

The feature is an unmissable “Bounce Zone” on the newly named Cadbury Hill, with a giant trampoline ready to send thrill seekers soaring into the air.

“We love playing at Blundstone, it is always a great atmosphere,” Hurricanes allrounder Meg Phillips said.

“It is so exciting to have the Cadbury Hill this year and the bounce stuff for the kids.”

Entry is free both days. Gates open from 1.55pm today and the clash between the Strikers and the Thunder starts at 2.20pm. Tomorrow’s repeat line-up of matches start from 10.10am.
