the Lipton Cup at the Royal Hobart Regatta on Sunday.

THE Bellerive Yacht Club’s new sailing co-ordinator Ross Daley will be diving in at the deep end this weekend, with the club running the huge Crown Series Bellerive Regatta.

“It’s a steep learning curve supported by a great team of staff and volunteers,” Ross said this week as he handled a regatta expected to comprise more than 80 keelboats and up to 60 off-the-beach boats.

“We have an excellent line-up of racing yachts and cruiser/racers, and the regatta is also the Tasmanian championships for International Dragons and SB20s.”

Ross is an experienced and versatile sailor and loves being on the water.

“I love sailing, especially regattas — the contest, the party, and the friendships,’’ he said.

“When I’m not in the sailing office I might be sailing my B14 skiff, cruising to Queensland, or ocean racing on The Fork in the Road.”

Ross said he would maintain his links with the Derwent Sailing Squadron and Midway Point Yacht Club.

“I am especially looking for ways we can grow sailing through training and regional development,’’ he said.
