Making all the right moves

AFTER a huge year of accomplishments in 2018, indigenous dance sensations Djuki Mala are returning to Spiegeltent in Hobart.

Since 2007 their highly awarded live show has sold out venues around the world and has been performed more than 700 times to more than 500,000 people in 73 cities and towns in 27 countries.

Artistic director Joshua Bond said Hobart audiences would have the chance to see the show that put Djuki Mala on the map.

“We will hopefully be back in 2020 with a brand new show that is in the works, but before that we invite everyone in Hobart to make it along to the 2019 season featuring our landmark self-titled show,” Bond said.

“We want to thank Hobart audiences who have embraced Djuki Mala and warmly welcomed us to Tasmania. We are thrilled to be coming back.”

Last year the show received five-star reviews during a successful season at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, received the UNISA Award for Excellence in Aboriginal Creative Arts at the 2018 Adelaide Fringe Festival, and appeared on TV and in the film clip of the single

Native Tongue by Mojo Juju, which was named the Australian Music Video of the Year at the Triple J Awards.

Catch Djuki Mala at the Spiegeltent from 6.30pm tonight or from 2pm or 6.30pm on Saturday.

Tickets are $45, and bookings and information are available from spiegeltenthobart.com
