Import Elliott big boost to Bombers

A CHANGE in scenery has breathed new life into former Circular Head coach Matt Elliott — and given Lauderdale another dimension to its forward line.

Elliott, who had coached the Giants for the past two seasons, is a born and bred Smithton product who felt he was getting “stale”, having spent his entire life on the North-West Coast.

The suggestion to relocate south with his partner, who is from Hobart, has been a win-win for both parties, with the crafty forward helping the Bombers to an unbeaten 4-0 start to the State League season.

Elliott landed at the Bombers with an impressive r esume, having won multiple best and fairests at Circular Head and taking home the Darrell Baldock medal as best player in the NWFL in 2016, predominan­tly as a midfielder.

However, he is relishing the opportunit­y to simply focus on his own football, kicking seven goals in his first four matches in the perfect foil alongside the likes of Jacob Gillbee, Thor Boscott, Ben McGuinness and the soon to return Ryan Wiggins.

“I’m really enjoying it, the club has welcomed me with open arms,” Elliott said after the win against Clarence on Saturday.

“I got a little bit stale up there. I had lived there my whole life, so I was ready for a move, thought maybe mainland but my partner is originally from down here and she suggested coming to Hobart and having a crack.
