Rich pickings ONLY 10 days remain for Tasmanian ukulele players to apply for a chance to open for Queensland roots musician Bobby Alu at this year’s Festival of Voices. The Australian/Samoan “tropical ambassador” has performed with the likes of Xavier Rudd and is touring to promote his latest single, Finally, ahead of the release of his third solo album in September. Alu will perform at Devil’s Corner Cellar Door at Apslawn on Tasmania’s East Coast as part of Festival of Voices on June 30. He has called for Tasmanian ukulele musicians to post a video of themselves playing a tune on Facebook or Instagram with the tags @bobbyalu, your city and #FinallyTou­r by June 30. Choir in full voice THE Lindisfarn­e Riverside Arts Choir will serenade community members and the general public at Lindisfarn­e this weekend. The choir will present a selection of varied popular music and verse under the musical direction of Johanna Bostock. There will also be a special guest appearance by the a cappella vocal ensemble, Thylasing. The Lindisfarn­e Riverside Arts Choir and Thylasing will perform at the Lindisfarn­e Community Activities Centre on Saturday and Sunday. Doors open at 2pm both days. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children, available at the door. Afternoon tea is provided

Country comfort THE Forcett Country Bash will get fans’ feet stompin’ at the Forcett Hall on Sunday. Warm up in front of a log fire with a hot toddy and let Country Jukebox (formerly known as Clarence Country), Country Strangers and guest artists entertain you. Sunday’s concert runs from 1-5pm. Entry is $5 and includes a generous afternoon tea. After Sunday’s concert, the next Forcett Country Bash will be on September 22.
