Huon plans for six subdivisions
PLANNING a p p l i c a t i o ns have been lodged for six subdivisions across multiple towns in the Huon Valley to establish formed roads from their bordering land lots.
The plans were lodged by Huon Valley Council, which said by formalising road lots and land boundaries, the subdivisions would allow for development possibilities and the creation of public open space.
The subdivisions would ensure the titles reflected formed roads and separated the Old Farm School land from the Cygnet Medical Centre.
The announcement did not signal or exclude future development or disposal of the land, with these options to be considered after the council completed its development policy, the council said.
“These subdivisions are in line with our Land Strategy, and are not land sales,” Huon Valley Mayor Bec Enders said.
“They will ensure we are maximising use of our land, obtaining a return on capital investment, and providing development opportunities and returns to the community.”
The land in line for subdivision includes: 187A Wilmot Rd, Ranelagh: Establish a road reservation and define public open space from vacant land adjoining Helen St with access to a kayak platform and Esplanade where a wastewater treatment lagoon is located. 61 Station Rd, Dover: Creates a formal road title for Kent Beach Rd from vacant land. 27 Main St, Huonville: Establish a portion of land for public open space from vacant land. 58 Kent St, Geeveston: Create a formal Memorial Drive Rd title on the site of a former scout hall, swimming pool and tennis court. Scenic Hill Rd, Huonville: Establish portions for the adjoining road, which includes a constructed road over the current lots. 14 George St, Cygnet: Create a formal Cygnet Medical Centre title separate from Old Farm School to allow for proper consideration of future development at the site.
The council said planning notifications for the subdivisions would be released in coming months to adjoining land owners and the public.
