Toy Story 4 (G) Less of a sequel and more of a stand-alone adventure that reflects the high standards of the preceding trilogy, Toy

Story 4’ s premise integrates Sheriff Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) and our old faves with a new collection of characters more than worthy of admission to the Toy Story universe. Both entertaining and emotionally astute, wonderful stuff from beginning to end. (Eastlands, Glenorchy, Hobart, Launceston)

Spider-Man: Far From Home (M) All the evidence needed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will go on changing and expanding is there for all to see in Spider-Man: Far From Home, a zippy and enjoyable Peter Parkerpropelled adventure that starts right up where Endgame left off. (Eastlands, Glenorchy, Hobart, Launceston)

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (M) No-one comes to a movie like Hobbs and Shaw for the plot. They come along for a bit of biff, a bit of banter and a big fat whack of overthe-top car chases and shoot-outs. For the first two-thirds of Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Shaw (Jason Statham), the movie gets the balance exactly right between adrenaline and amusement. It is only in the final section of Hobbs and Shaw that the movie begins to lose some of his hard-earned momentum. (Eastlands, Glenorchy, Hobart, Launceston)

Late Night (M) It is easy to map the story DNA threaded through Late Night. This delightful light comedy has been engineered as a hybrid of Meryl Streep’s 2006 hit The Devil

Wears Prada (but nicer, less acidic) and Tina Fey’s frenetic TV sitcom 30 Rock (but slower, less manic). It is equally easy to go along with Late Night’s gentle, genial flow.

Yesterday (M) See review above. (Eastlands, Hobart, Launceston)

The Lion King (PG) See review above. (Eastlands, Glenorchy, Hobart, Launceston)
