Paddock full of Aussie talent ready to rock

- PATRICK GEE

PARTY in the Paddock’s huge 2020 line-up dropped yesterday and festival fans were far from disappointed.

The more than 50 strong line-up is packed with Australian music scene heavyweights including headliners Matt Corby, Jack River, Hermitude and Dune Rats.

New Zealand’s indie-pop sibling duo Broods, known for radio hits like Peach, Everything Goes (Wow) and Hospitalized, were also at the top of the bill.

A post from the festival’s Facebook page announcing the line-up received more than 1100 comments in two hours — many from mainland music lovers willing to travel to see their favourite bands.

Festival founder Jesse Higgs said the announcement had a “really, really good reception”.

“We’re really stoked with the fresh, diverse line-up and we kind of pride ourselves on bringing new music to Tasmania,” he said.

“We feel like this is one of the funnest line-ups we’ve done. There’s so many great names … and it’s got a lot of depth to it.”

Five-time festival attendee Samantha Abbott, from Hobart, bought her presale ticket before the line-up was even announced. She said she was excited when she saw the list of artists. “Every time has been great,” she said.

“It’s kind of guaranteed it’s going to be mainly Australian artists so I know that I’ll know a lot of the music,” she said.

Ms Abbott said she was excited to see Bakers Eddy, The Vanns and Broods.

Other Australian artists on the bill include Briggs, Mallrat, Cosmo’s Midnight, Lime Cordial, Confidence Man, Odette and Dear Seattle.

Tasmanian talent Slaughterhaus Surf Cult, Celeste and Claire Anne Taylor are also on the bill.

Party in the Paddock runs from February 6-8 next year. Pre-sale registration for tickets closes 5pm Thursday at www.partyinthepaddockfestival.com.au.
