DEAL OR NO DEAL: HOW YOUR CLUB FARED IN THE TRADE PERIOD
ADELAIDE: Two words: fire sale. Cam EllisYolmen (Brisbane), Alex Keath (Bulldogs), Hugh Greenwood (Gold Coast), Eddie Betts (Carlton), Sam Jacobs (GWS) and Josh Jenkins (Geelong) are all gone as the Crows re-stump under new coach Matthew Nicks. Port’s Billy Frampton is the sole addition.
BRISBANE: Grant Birchall takes Luke Hodge’s role as the veteran defender/ Hawthorn influence as Callum Ah Chee (Gold Coast) and Rising Star winner Lewis Taylor (Sydney) leave.
CARLTON: Eddie Betts is a big homecoming, but the jury is out on what on-field impact he will have at 32. Andrew Phillips to Essendon and fellow ruckman Marc Pittonet (Hawthorn) takes his place.
COLLINGWOOD: Darcy Cameron (Sydney) joins as a back-up ruckman. James Aish goes to Fremantle.
ESSENDON: Joe Daniher stays a Bomber, with the Swans unable to strike a deal. The Bombers also had a significant win when Orazio Fantasia was convinced not to pursue a trade to Port Adelaide. Fringe Brisbane player Tom Cutler a late trade.
FREMANTLE: Bradley Hill (St Kilda) is a significant loss, but pick No.10 and Blake Acres headline the compensation. Ed Langdon (Melbourne) heads east as James Aish (Collingwood) reunites with new Dockers coach Justin Longmuir.
GEELONG: All-Australian Tim Kelly is a big loss, but the suite of picks from West Coast gives them plenty of draft ammunition. Jack Steven (St Kilda) joins; Zac Smith goes back to the Suns.
GOLD COAST: Two-time Richmond premiership player Brandon Ellis brings experience. Hugh Greenwood (Adelaide) also a handy pickup. Ruckman Zac Smith returns from Geelong.
GWS: Long-time Giants Jonathon Patton (Hawthorn) and Adam Tomlinson (Melbourne) are gone, along with Aiden Bonar (North Melbourne) with Crows ruckman Sam Jacobs arriving.
HAWTHORN: The Hawks have sought to boost their spine, bringing in Jonathon Patton and Sam Frost.
MELBOURNE: Adam Tomlinson and Ed Langdon join to beef them up on either wing. Now have two top-10 picks.
NORTH MELBOURNE: After re-signing Shaun Higgins and Todd Goldstein, the Kangaroos were quiet in trade period. Picked up Aiden Bonar from GWS.
PORT ADELAIDE: The natives are restless at Alberton over Dougal Howard’s departure to St Kilda. Paddy Ryder also joins the Saints.
RICHMOND: Other than Brandon Ellis (Gold Coast) and Dan Butler (St Kilda), very quiet
ST KILDA: The big players, with Bradley Hill (Fremantle) and Port duo Paddy Ryder and Dougal Howard boosting their list. Jack Steven goes to Geelong for a lot cheaper (No.58) than they had hoped. Blake Acres is off to Fremantle and Josh Bruce goes to the Bulldogs. Zak Jones (Sydney), like Hill, adds much-needed outside run. Richmond forward Dan Butler was a last-minute trade.
SYDNEY: Didn’t land the big fish they wanted when they were unable to coax the Bombers into a deal for Joe Daniher. Lewis Taylor comes in from Brisbane.
WEST COAST: It took them 12 months but the Eagles have their man, Tim Kelly.
WESTERN BULLDOGS: Josh Bruce (St Kilda) will be a handy foil for Aaron Naughton in the revamped Bulldogs attack. Provided Alex Keath (Adelaide) can recover from his leg injury, he also certainly boosts their defence.
