Triple ton for David

- KYLE WISNIEWSKI

DAVID Kamaric has raised the bat for another milestone for his beloved St Annes Cricket Club, reaching 300 games last Saturday.

The SCA Round 2 clash against New Norfolk was Kamaric’s 300th game, and he was still as good as ever, taking three wickets and finishing unbeaten on five at first drop and seeing his side over the line.

Kamaric, 40, didn’t have his eyes set on the milestone but said he is still honoured to reach the mark.

“I didn’t think I would be playing this long,” Kamaric said.

“It’s not a milestone you seek out to achieve — you just play year by year and they seem to tick over.

“The club has now had five players reach 300 games, so I’m only with a handful of people to do that, which is nice.

“It’s a credit to the club to get that many people to stick around for that long and play that many games.”

Having spent two and a half decades at St Annes, the baker has filled many roles for the club, including coaching the juniors and senior teams and is currently the vice-president.

“I played a bit of high school cricket then joined the club when I was 15 or 16,” Kamaric said.

“I had a bit of time off to focus on my footy but came back and have been there since.

“I’ve been lucky enough to play in seven premierships with them.”

Cricket hasn’t been Kamaric’s only sport, having had a successful career at Glenorchy Football Club, winning three best and fairests and winning multiple premierships in his 226 games, before moving to play and be an assistant coach at Claremont.

“I’m a competitive person and I’d get bored if I didn’t play sport,” Kamaric said.

“While my body still allows me I’ll continue to make the most of it.”
