Devils northern talent manager off to SA to take on new challenge
TASMANIAN football is on the right track, says the state’s departing northern talent manager Darren Trevena, who is off to the SANFL.
The Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame member announced yesterday he had been appointed to the same position at Adelaide club Glenelg. Trevena said he would remain a staunch supporter of Tasmanian football.
“I have really enjoyed my time in the role,” Trevena said.
“It has been an immense pleasure to work in Tassie footy, something I am incredibly passionate about.
“I am proud to play a part in the foundations of the Devils program and I’ll continue to be a vocal and passionate advocate for Tasmanian talent.
“An exciting opportunity awaits for me at Glenelg but I leave with confidence that AFL Tasmania and the Devils program are on the right track.”
Tasmania Devils manager Craig Notman praised Trevena for his contribution to nurturing talent in the North.
“Darren’s impact on our talent program has been profound, not only in the northern region, but the whole of the Tasmania Devils program statewide,” Notman said.
“His ability to engage with the wider football community has allowed the program to make significant gains in his time in the role, and he has laid a terrific foundation for the program moving forward. The passion that Trev has for football in the state is undoubted, along with the genuine care he has for young players within the program, not only from a footballing point of view, but also as young men.”
Trevena will finish in the role on January 3 and the search for his replacement starts immediately.
