RUSH ON TOILET PAPER

-

IT’S hard to understand the frenetic scramble by many to buy all the toilet paper they can get their hands on! The coronavirus has created many and varied responses from reactive sections of the world community, but accumulating toilet paper belies belief.

There is however an identified opportunity here for government to tap into the new craze, increase the bottom line of the budget surplus and not be left behind. The Bummer Tax. Take advantage of the increased demand for soft white, double layer toilet paper by applying a 10 per cent tax on every roll and really clean up.

that the focus on hoarding toilet paper by so many today reflected their need for physical cleanliness and environmental order, so producing the self-controlled adult. To which I would respond, bollocks.

visited China, this should eliminate 94 per cent of your concern. If you do contract coronavirus, this still is not a cause for panic because 81 per cent of cases are mild, 14 per cent moderate and 5 per cent critical. SARS had a fatality rate of 10 per cent while COVID-19 is 2 per cent. For people under 50 it is only 0.2 per cent.

That means if you are under 50 and don’t live in China you are more likely to win the lottery (one in 45,000,000 chance). On February 10 when 108 people in China died of coronavirus, 26,283 people died of cancer, 24,641 people of heart disease, 4300 people died of diabetes, suicide took 28 times more lives than the virus did. Mosquitoes kill 2740 people every day, humans kill 1300 fellow humans every day, snakes kill 137 people every day, sharks kill two people a year. Puts it all into perspective, doesn’t it?
