SUNDAY'S CHOICES
Mystery Road ABC, 8.30pm
Season two of this brilliant Australian drama is nearing its conclusion, and tonight’s penultimate episode ratchets things up ahead of the finale. Mary (Tasma Walton) learns just how dangerous Simon (Callan Mulvey) is and flees before teaming up with Jay (Aaron Pedersen, pictured) in a bid to catch the baddie. Of course, the former cop is no fool, and will do just about anything to avoid being captured, making him even more dangerous than usual. Meanwhile, Fran (Jada Alberts) digs further into Zoe’s disappearance and learns something that might help her discover the truth. Home-grown TV doesn’t get a whole lot better than this.
Eurovision 2020: Europe Shine A Light SBS, 8.30pm
There may not be an actual Eurovision Song Contest this year, but the show goes on in a different form. This two-hour European special takes the place of the grand final and promises to honour all 41 songs from this year’s competition in a noncompetitive way. Plus all of the acts who should have been up on stage in Rotterdam right about now will join in for a tribute rendition of Eurovision 1997’s
Love Shine A Light. The lyrics of the Katrina and the Waves song have been rewritten for our current times, and will be performed by this year’s acts from their locations across Europe. Favourites from recent Eurovisions will also take part, and fans will be shown joining in the sing-along from their homes.
