Mercury (Hobart)

With a smile on his dial and a tune in his ear

-

WITH most of the arts and theatre events either shut down or on pause at the moment, you would think Hobart entertainer John X would have plenty of time on his hands.

Well, he would, if the popular actor and comedian hadn’t had to pivot into the role of being Mr Mum and finetune his teaching skills to homeschool his two young children.

So, after having being forced to listen to a barrage of kids’ music and shows for the past few months, Mr Xintavelonis is one Tasmanian who could definitely benefit from a new set of earbuds like the ones the Mercury is offering new subscribers, so he can once again listen to some of his own tunes. He said when that day did finally come, his all-time favourite things to listen to were a real mixed bag.

“They range from beautiful instrumental pieces which I love to put on when I’m driving in my wife’s car, preferably with the roof down, to slow down to, to some of the old faves from my clubbing days which never fail to put a smile on my dial,” he said.

His five favourites songs of all-time are:

1. Theme from A Summer Place Percy Faith

2. U Can’t Touch This MC Hammer

3. Ca Plane Pour Moi Plastic Bertrand

4. All I Want For Christmas Is You Mariah Carey

5. The Time Warp From the Rocky Horror Picture Show
