Day denied plea to fly overseas
CELEBRITY manager Titus Day, who faces charges for allegedly ripping off pop star Guy Sebastian to the tune of $1m, has pleaded with a court to allow him to jet overseas.
Day appeared in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Friday, where the court was told he was “clinging on” to his last remaining client, UFC fighter Robert Whittaker.
Day’s lawyers argued for a variation of his bail conditions to allow him to fly to Abu Dhabi to support Whittaker in his July 26 fight against Englishman Darren Till in the United Arab Emirates.
The media attention surrounding his 61 charges had led to “reputational damage”, the court was told. Day will defend the charges.
His lawyers said the stoush between Sebastian and Day involved a dispute as to “who owes who”.
They claimed it was Day who was owed a far greater sum of money than what police alleged he skimmed from the singer. Magistrate Michael Antrum dismissed the application. The hearing was adjourned to a later date.
