Window closing on bushfire help
TASMANIANS significantly affected by recent bushfires have less than a week to make a claim for a disaster payment if they have not already done so.
Break O’Day, Central Highlands or Southern Midlands residents may be eligible for the Australian Government
Disaster Recovery Payment — but they need to make a claim by July 16.
The one-off payment is for people significantly affected by a declared disaster in 2019-20, and is $1000 per adult and $400 for each child under 16.
Free counselling and additional mental health support also was available for affected individuals, families and emergency services workers.
To make a claim or to speak with a social worker, call 180 22 66 Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, or visit servicesaustralia.gov .au/disaster.
