Out: Teague (fractured foot)

-

CARLTON has suffered a serious injury blow ahead of its clash with the Western Bulldogs tomorrow night.

But fear not, its effects will only be confined to the coaches’ box.

Senior coach David Teague has been felled with a fractured foot just days into the club’s Gold Coast hub stint, with club fitness boss Andrew Russell revealing he was “out for the count” after a mishap in a kick-to-kick session at training this week.

“We had the big dog go down,” Russell said. “Whenever we come out of a session with a fractured foot, we’re always pretty concerned about that, but absolutely it got the boys up — they thought it was hysterical.”

Russell joked that Teague — who played 83 games for North Melbourne and Carlton — “still thinks he should be playing”.

“I still think he’s going to talk to the board about getting a playing contract,” he said. “Bang, over on the ankle, done. Out for the count. Out for the rest of the session. Off, MRI result, fractured foot.”
