Giving our girls great start

- Take a virtual tour of our campuses at collegiate.tas.edu.au

AT St Michael’s Collegiate School, we value the longlasting impact of high-quality teaching in the early and primary years and have an outstanding and effective program which nurtures every child’s learning.

Our small class sizes ensure each child receives the attention, encouragement and support they need to flourish.

This approach, and our dedicated team of highly professional teachers, provides our students with the best possible start for success at school and beyond.

It empowers them to lead lives of purpose with courage, integrity, and compassion.

The junior school campus at South Hobart houses the early learning centre, kinder and prep through to Year 4 in a village-like setting linked to nature. Students can explore our beautiful grounds, oval, tennis and handball courts, playgrounds and the kitchengarden (complete with chickens).

Our students have wonderful learning opportunities that include a wide range of co-curricular programs like visual and performing arts, sport, outdoor education, chess, digital technology, and robotics.

Junior school students also benefit from the facilities at our two other campuses including the sports hall, a heated 25m indoor swimming pool and the new Innovative Futures Lab.

With a seamless transition to quality teaching and learning online in the last semester, Collegiate junior school students and teachers successfully navigated their way through a period of learning from home.

“Reading our semester 1 reports, I was so impressed by the outcomes our students had maintained, despite the change to the mode of learning. It was wonderful to read of their resilience and the quality of their learning,” Collegiate principal Dr Adam Forsyth said. “This is a credit to Collegiate’s outstanding educators and IT team; the strong collaborative partnership we have with parents to help support our students, and the character of our girls.”

Collegiate is an independent day and boarding school for girls which has been educating students for 128 years.
