Robins hope for rebound

But New Norfolk to be a challenge

- DANIEL WEBB Daniel Webb is on work placement from the University of Tasmania.

BRIGHTON is looking to return back to winning ways today as it takes on New Norfolk in Round 3 of the Southern Football League at Pontville today.

The Robins suffered a heavy 89-point loss at the hands of Huonville last Saturday, and coach Byron Howard’s team would like to rediscover its Round 1 form.

Howard was adamant his side would be ready to take on the Eagles, with New Norfolk feeling fresh after a week off.

“It was a bit like boys versus men last week, so we certainly learnt some things out of that,” he said.

“New Norfolk obviously had a good win against Huonville in Round 1, so we know it’s not going to be easy, but the main thing is we take things out of the game and move on.

“It’s a whole new ball game, last week’s done and dusted, we had a good win first up, came back to earth a little bit last week but we’re ready to go.”

Kobe Mccauley, 17, comes in for his senior debut playing through the midfield and halfback for the home side.

New Norfolk vice-captain Jordon Banks-Smith believes the confidence of the firstround win against Huonville would carry over to today’s clash and is looking forward to the challenge of Brighton.

“We’re excited to play Brighton, the last couple of years have been pretty tough for them, obviously not having a senior side last year it’s been a credit to them blokes that’s for sure,” Banks-Smith said.

“They’re young and we’re young as well so it’s going to be a really good game.”

The Brighton v New Norfolk rivalry reignites at Pontville, with the Robins hosting the Eagles at 2pm.

In other games, Dodges Ferry hosts Huonville at Shark Park, while Hobart tackles Sorell at the TCA, with both games starting at 2pm.

In the final game of the round, Claremont travels down the highway to take on Cygnet at 3pm in Cygnet, while Lindisfarne has the bye.
