Southern water adventure awaits

- SUSAN OONG

IT’S a choose your own adventure with a difference, one where all that’s needed is an imagination, an achievable itinerary and a group of 30 friends to share it with.

Pennicott Wilderness Journeys’ latest initiative encourages individuals to plan their personalised tour of the state’s southern waterways for a memorable day out.

“If people can come up with the ideas, we’ve got the tools to do it, so let’s get everyone thinking and imagining what they’d like to do, then see if we can be the catalyst to help them do it,” said Robert Pennicott, owner of the acclaimed Tasmanian tour company.

“We will consider any concept and will adapt the cruise especially for them, one where their imagination is the only thing holding them back,” he said.

One group on board is the South Arm Peninsula Residents Association.

SAPRA president Kerry Scambler says their personalised tours on Sunday, August 23, leaving from South Arm jetty and taking in Betsey Island and the historic Iron Pot lighthouse, are open to all.

“We have an amazing community and this cruise will give them an extremely special experience to share and to remind residents of what we have on our doorstep,” Ms Scambler said.

“The Pennicotts just know their stuff so well – the geography, the geology, the marine life, the bird life. It’s a great experience and I’m so pleased that it’s going ahead.”

Mr Pennicott says he’s excited to offer the South Arm locals the chance to see where they live from the coastline.
