Every possession now in the Mercury

- BRETT STUBBS

EVERY kick, every mark, every handball and every tackle – there is now nowhere to run for TSL player and selectors.

The Mercury will exclusively publish the stats and even fantasy points from PremierData for every TSL game and player online by 9pm each Saturday and in print every Monday starting from this round.

It will give player, coaches and fans alike an idea of how every player is going in the league and lift the professionalism of the state’s top football code another notch.

Tigers coach Trent Baumeler believes having the full stats made available is only a good thing for all involved and will make selectors and armchair critics alike much more accountable and assist in players pushing for AFL attention.

“I think there is nowhere to hide,” Baumeler said.

“Things in the future like state selection and team of the year, all those things, there is just so much accountability now and it is really good to be able to go there and get those accurate stats and see how guys are going and obviously that is pushed out nationwide as well.”

He said it would also be another point of difference between the TSL and community football.

“It adds a different element to our competition that sets us apart,” Baumeler said.

“We are the premier competition in the state, so to have access to all that sort of stuff is fantastic.”

Jump on the Mercury’s website themercury.com.au every Saturday night or grab Monday’s paper to see all the TSL stats.
