Tough break for duo

CLARENCE’S surge into a finals contender has suffered a major blow with a pair of cousins ruled out for the remainder of the season.

The Roos are gunning for three consecutive TSL victories when they head to KGV for a showdown with Glenorchy this weekend, but will be without the services of Jack and Oli Preshaw.

They were injured in Saturday’s defeat of North Hobart, with Jack suffering a broken jaw and Oli having his collarbone crushed.

Roos coach Jeromey Webberley was shattered for the duo.

“If we talk about putting your hard yards in and trying to develop over the COVID break, I don’t think those two have had a day off in eight, nine, 10 months,” Webberley said.

“But it is an opportunity for our group to give Glenorchy something this week and have the Preshaws in the back of their mind.”

The coach confirmed ruckman Ryan Bailey was still at least a week away from returning, with Oscar Paprotny and Tyler Hanslow to take on the Pies.

Glenorchy is hopeful of regaining Daniel Joseph (chest) and James Deegan (ankle) for the clash.

North Hobart has wasted no time in elevating midseason recruit Julian Dobosz into its senior side with the key forward to take on Lauderdale at SkyBus Oval.

Dobosz completed his quarantine requirements after returning from Melbourne but was given a week on the training track before being thrust into action.

Andrew Palmer has been recalled for the Demons, with Jeff Fisher and George McLeod making way.

Launceston coach Mitch Thorp will return for the quick turnaround against the Tigers on Sunday.

Veteran Tim Bristow will also make his first appearance since straining his hamstring in Round 5.

Brady Rees replaces Lachie Gadomski (hamstring) for the Tigers.
