Hawks players help northern tourism to fly high

-

HAWTHORN has added its wing power to an intrastate travel campaign to help the tourist economy in their northern Tasmanian territory soar in the upcoming school holidays.

Tasmanian football families will receive personalised video invitations to visit the Hawthorn Football Club’s second home – generated using AFL Tasmania subscription data.

The footage, filmed in and around Launceston, has Hawthorn players in cameo roles waiting tables, serving at a cellar door, driving an uber, checking in hotel guests and pouring coffees.

Several of Launceston’s signature experiences are showcased, presenting the recipient with an “aspirational break to Hawthorn’s second home for the past 20 years”.

The Hawthorn football club partnered with City of Launceston Council and Visit Northern Tasmania to launch the Make Yourself at Home in the Hawks Tassie Home campaign, leveraging the state government’s Make Yourself at Home tourism recovery initiative.

Hawthorn CEO Justin Reeves said the Hawks’ partnership with Tasmania was about “much more than football”. “Some of the really important elements of our partnership focus on the Hawks providing active and innovative support to Tasmania to drive economic and social outcomes,” he said.

“In a year when our club’s traditional contribution to Tasmania’s visitor economy has been challenged, we have looked for new and different ways to continue to make a meaningful contribution to these areas for Tasmania.”
