LAUNCESTON businesswoman Mel Driver has not been deterred by closed markets and other obstacles posed by COVID-19, taking out an array of awards for her skincare products at the 2020 Organic Beauty Awards.

Among the accolades her small business Embalm Skincare received were the editors choice award and a gold award for her Invigorating Body Scrub and gold for her Instant Glow Face Mask which was launched six weeks ago.

“It’s very exciting for brand new products to already receive such great recognition by the [Safe Cosmetics Australia] jury,” she said.

“It’s been pretty tricky not being able to go to markets. I had to pretty much double-up on social media and online and have been working with 10 social media influencers.

“The feedback for the face mask from the influencers has been beyond what I could have imagined, it’s fantastic.”

Embalm is a hypo-allergenic skincare range for busy women with sensitive skin.

“In busy times, it’s hard to sneak in a little bit of self-care after all the closures of salons andspas.

“My products have an element of self-care built in because of the unique, essential palmoil.

“They’re basically an aromatherapy range and I like to call it self-care in a bottle or self-care in a jar, because it’s not just good for your skin, but also mood boo sting at the same time.”

Mrs Driver said receiving a raft of awards over the past six months had resulted in her sales growing exponentially.

She said she hoped to be able to showcase some of her new products at markets as theyreopen.
