CHANCE TO OWN A PIECE OF HISTORY

CAR lovers from around the world are expected to line up for a chance to nab a classic vehicle when marketing specialist Pick les host san online classic and unique car auction from today.

The suite of about 40 vehicles—including a 1926 Model T Ford and a very special Porsche—are set to go under the hammer and to new homes in Tasmania, across Australia and overseas.

Pick les sales manager Roger Hu rd said he expected to field inquiries from around theworld.

“Last time we had interest from Arizona and the Nertherlan­ds. Classic car auctions certainly are very popular and we expect bids of up to $200,000 on some models ,” Mr Hurd said.

“Tasmanians are also very into their classic cars — and get to drive them on some of the best roads around— so we also expect a lot of local interest.”

The Model T is a threespeed manual and has a 2.9 l petrolengi­ne.

Made in Canada, it was shipped out in boxes and assembled in Gee long and was among the first Ford cars assembled in Australia.

It is immaculate with blue cloth and vinyl seats.

Another car up for grabs is a 1951 Ford Anglia tourer soft top convertibl­e with 12,223 miles (19,671 km) on the odometer.

The two-door, threespeed manual has a 933 cc petrol engine. Fitted with brown/ tan vinyl seats it is certainly ahead turner.

The vehicles are being sold during the Pick les Tasmania and South Australia Classic/ Unique Vehicles and Collectibl­es Online Auction which runs from Friday at 11am until October 13.
