SWING, CA STAND SIP FOR THIS TRIATHLON

ANNIE McCANN A TRIATHLON with a twist will combine charming pas times from Scotland for a special fund raiser.

When one consider sat rio of the most gruelling sports for a triathlon, the hobbies of fishing, whisky tasting and hitting a golf ball hardly come into play.

But Lark Distillery pioneer Bill L ark has brought the three elements together for his inaugural Scottish Triathlon, a Tasmanian highlands event raising money for the Stroke Foundation.

An auction will allow people to bid on either an Australian representa­tive fly fishing champion, a pro golfer or whisky expert Mr L ark to be their partner.

The event will take place at Rat ho Farm in Bothwell, where Mr L ark first had his idea to distil whisky in Tasmania while grilling freshly caught trout near the golf course.

Rat ho Farm owner Greg Ram say said the activities were perfect for the Tasmanian and Scottish highlands.

“We’ ve come up with a format where by two-person team scan register at ally combining their golf, trout they catch and also in a whisky tasting master class quiz on the Saturday night ,” Mr Ram say said.

“We’ ve nearly sold out our 27 onsite suites, but are now filling up Bothwell’ s lodging and can have daytime participan­ts too .”

The triathlon will run at 6.30 pm on November 6 and 5 pm on November 8 for$75.
