Double take for Trinder

Launceston winners set for repeat performances

- PETER STAPLES

FINDING winners at Wednesday night’s Launceston meeting will not be easy but Spreyton trainer Adam Trinder could be the key to punters finishing in front.

Trinder’s two last- start winners Easy Road and Our Shinkansen are likely to start favourites in their races and both need only reproduce the form that took them to victory in Launceston two weeks ago to make return visits to the winner’s stall.

Our Shinkansen has had only two starts for a debut fourth and last start win in a 1200m maiden, defeating Run Dance Fly and Wardell.

“I was pleased with Our Shinkansen’s maiden win and the mare has come on since that run,” Trinder said.

“It’s never easy to win a class one straight after winning a maiden but this mare is quite smart.”

Easy Road lines up in a benchmark 66 handicap over 1200m after coming off a brilliant first- up win in a benchmark 66 event over the same distance.

The well- bred gelding will carry topweight of 61.5kg as the highest- rated male in the field ( 69) but Trinder is confident he is up to the task.

Easy Road has had 10 starts for four wins and two minor placings and Trinder

predicted at the end of his last preparation he was poised for his best campaign.

Stuart Gandy prepared a treble in Launceston last Friday night and on Wednesday night has two top chances.

Tee Jay Frankie has won his past two, the latest over

1620m, but on Wednesday he steps up to 2100m, a distance Gandy says will better suit the gelded son of Myboycharlie.

Gandy’s consistent gelding Gee Gee Manpower finally broke his maiden status three starts back in Devonport, but he has been most competitive

at his two most recent outings on turf, in Hobart and Launceston.

He also will saddle up Fitzwilliam in the same race as Easy Road, but Gandy’s gelding would have to improve on his last of seven in Devonport at his most recent outing.
