SBL TEAMS JOSTLING FOR FINALS POSITIONS

-

THE SBL finals picture is all but set for both the men’s and women’s competition but finishing positions are still up for grabs leading into the last month of the season.

Glenorchy Spartans and Hobart Phoenix open up round 18 women’s action tonight in a top of the table battle.

Both sides suffered upset defeats last week with absences due to school formals and the long weekend, setting up a blockbuster clash.

Glenorchy currently sits a game clear of defending champions Hobart, however Phoenix have found a groove despite the absence of Sharna

Thompson. Last week’s two victors in the KingboroughHuon Kings and Southern Wolves meet in the second match.

At full strength the Wolves have looked at times unbeatable this season, but the Kings will be looking to ride their wave of momentum and will also carry confidence from a victory over the Wolves back at the resumption of play from COVID- 19.

Kingborough- Huon men’s side will also be looking to continue their purple patch against Grenadiers.

Just a month ago both teams were in a fight for third position, but the Kings have well and truly pulled away thanks to some red hot shooting and elite play.

Glenorchy will regain key players from injury to take on the Southern Wolves.

Sitting just behind Hobart Phoenix following a crushing defeat two weeks ago, the Spartans will look to get some form into their returning players not only for the remainder of the SBL season, but also heading into round two of state league this weekend.

For the Wolves, the last few games of the season will be a good chance to entrust the offence of the team to Izach Collins and Jina Mohamed Kanneh.
