Home side in 12-point victory

ROSNY Park secured maximum points at home against a determined Brighton, winning by 12 shots in Bowls Tasmania South’s Pennant Division One Pennant on Thursday.

With good lead bowls from Kaye Cole followed by excellent weighted draw shots from Di Nieuwhof, Ailsa Milburn defeated June Headlam by seven shots. With both skips playing some outstandin­g bowls, Jenny Suttie beat Judy Williams by four shots.

Sandy Bay had a comfortabl­e 21shot win over Claremont. Yvonne Buckley was in great form against Mieke Salter. With only one shot separating the pair on the 14th end, Buckley raced away winning 17 shots in seven ends for a 16 shot win. Robyn Leggett defeated Joy Voss by seven shots.

Maree Morgan was Claremont’s only winner, racing to a 12-shot lead before edging Chris Dowl by two shots.

Howrah travelled to Dover RSL and came away with 29-shot win. Sandra Hawksley lost the first seven shots to Dawn Garlandbef­ore running away with the game to win by 13 shots. Charon Foster beat Sheryl Phillips by eight shots, while Rosie Geeves was tested early by Meg Wilson but finished strongly to win by eight shots.

Kingboroug­h hosted Orford and won by 38 shots. Greta Murray had a solid 23-shot win against Therese Gatenby, dropping just five ends for the game. Judy Traill led well all day for Leonie Price, who defeated Sonia Martyn by 13 shots. With Carol Bannister playing her first game with Orford, Kingboroug­h’s Vicki Bannister had a much closer game, winning by two shots.

Buckingham overcame Sorell, winning by three shots. Janet Rutherford beat Jan Cowen 10 shots, June Guy beat Shirley Hay by three shots, while Monica Lovell kept Sorell in the game with a win over Jeanette Lane.
