PUB TEST FAIL

THE pub test. It’s a silly expression frequently used by our political masters as a test of an idea’s common sense or practicality. But pubs aren’t really centres of decision making excellence are they? Having one too many, getting way too friendly with someone you’ve just met, or buying a hot TV in the carpark are not uncommon choices.

COLD GLENORCHY DIP

TOUGH ON BUSINESS

ONE wonders if the inquisitors asking to name COVID grant recipients have thought this through? I do not think naming small businesses doing it tough, hopefully temporarily, is going to strengthen these businesses. In fact, quite the reverse and it would also be a breach of trust. FISH SHOCK

AS I was buying top quality, reasonably priced, locally sourced fish from The Fish Man at the docks, like Chris Davey (Letters, October 27), I too was astounded by the statement by Amanda Vallis that Tasmanian chefs source their fish from New Zealand (TasWeekend, October 24). ANTHEM ANSWER

HEALTHY DISTANCE

MAYBE we should focus on the upside of our diligence to stay COVID-free, how less we are susceptible to communicative illnesses, colds, flu and other nasties. Let’s keep using sanitisers and observe distancing and we will be better for it. Stewart Edwards Mount Stuart
