Late charge for win

Storming finish by Kingboroug­h

IN a tight battle at Beltana, Kingboroug­h finished strongly to defeat the home team by 12 shots in Derwent Eye Specialist­s Bowls Tasmania South’s Premier Division on Saturday.

Jason Fowler overcame a slow start against Steve Midson to win by 20 shots but the game between Jarrod Long and Nick Courto came down to the last two bowls.

Courto drew the shot with his last bowl, which would have given him the win, but Long’s last bowl sat Courto’s bowl out for three shots and a two- shot win.

Taelyn Male scored three threes in the last five ends, including six shots in the final two ends, to salvage a draw against Shane Young. Beltana’s Mick Coppleman had a 10- shot win over Will Coad.

Rosny Park recorded a 15 shot win over New Norfolk. Michael Sweeney defeated Wayne Lampkin by 15 shots, while Peter Bannister held out Kerry Hill by four.

David Genford and Anthony Briggs had a tight tussle.

With scores level going into the last end, Genford had the last roll and took out the shot bowl to win by two. Barry Bone was New Norfolk’s only winner, defeating Connor Munnings by six shots. Buckingham beat Dover

RSL by six shots.

Todd Oakley was never headed to defeat Chris Norris by 16 shots. Isaac Maughan was up by 13 after eight ends against Roger Dale but finished just four shots in front.

Glenorchy Rodman finally found its mojo against Brighton winning by 48 shots.

Josh Baker defeated Grant Wakefield by 20 shots. Luke Turner played telling bowls against Mick Daniels to win by 15 shots. Tony Vince played some big conversion shots to beat Don Holland by 15. Brighton’s Greg Fehlberg defeated Cam Tegg by two.

Sandy Bay accounted for Cremorne by 25 shots.

Ryan McCoull defeated Pat Hoffman by 16 shots, Bryce Guy beat Ralph Tieman by 12 and Keghan Booth overcame Leigh Munnings by eight.

Brad Knight was the sole winner for Cremorne, defeating Andrew Norris by 11 shots.
