KINGBOROUGH has broken through for its first CTPL win of the season in thrilling fashion with a memorable run chase against South HobartSandy Bay.

The Knights, who a month ago had to settle for a draw against University with the Lions nine down and two runs away from victory in another nailbiter, found themselves on the right side of the ledger at Queenborough.

Set 324 for victory, the visitors scraped home by one wicket with two overs left in the match when Alex Vincent ( 53 not out) hit a boundary off Tom Willoughby for the winning runs.

Vincent shared a last wicket stand of 29 with Cam Walter ( 16 not out), with the duo easing nerves by taking 17 runs from the 93rd over to put themselves within reach.

While Vincent and Walter finished proceedings, Clive Rose was the man who put them in the position to do so with a brilliant century.

Rose cracked 121 from 140 balls ( 15 boundaries, two sixes) but when he was bowled by Will Christian the Knights still required 48 runs with two wi ck et sik ti in hand. When keeper Matthew Coad perished the Sharks were on the verge, only to be denied by the defiant final pair.

Lindisfarne also pulled off its own thrilling two- wicket win against New Town at the bike track.

Chasing 313, the Lightning had several batsmen make starts but fail to kick on as Fletcher Keeling ( 5- 88) kept the Bucks in the hunt.

The hosts were still on top until Oliver Wray ( 50 not out) and Daniel Chapman ( 56) combined for a 93- run stand for the seventh wicket.

Having retired hurt in the first three overs of the innings after having his finger split open, opener Tom McGann returned to the crease and alongside Wray, helped knock off the remaining runs.

In the other two matches, University hammered ladder leader North Hobart at the TCA while Clarence’s patience, after compiling just 6- 167 on Saturday, paid dividends at UTAS Stadium with the Roos having enough time to bowl Greater Northern out.

The visitors declared at 7- 238 with Justin Galeotti ( 102) bringing up his maiden CTPL century, before Isaac Salter starred with the ball in taking 6- 37 as the Raiders were rolled for 148.
