BOYS BACK IN TOWN BACH’S PASSION

-

READER Di Manser is correct, we had a great education at Ogilvie. I look forward to the school being revitalised by the inclusion of boys, as it originally was when the school started in 1937. As a member of the most exclusive Men’s Group in Tasmania, the Ogilvie Old Boys, I look forward to welcoming new members.

PETER Tanfield ( TasWeekend, November 28- 29) achieved great things in securing sponsorship for the performance of Bach’s St Matthew Passion at St David’s Cathedral in 2008. But it was not, as he claims, the first production in Hobart. The Conservatorium Chorale performed the Passion in the Hobart Town Hall in mid- 1990. Tony Marshall

MORAL HIGH GROUND

JOSH Frydenberg proudly proclaims we will continue to confront China’s government on its human rights record. We are not in a position to lecture a foreign power while we turn back the boats and support offshore camps in our name. Mike Radburn
