Ricciardo fury as crash rocks GP

-

AUSTRALIAN Daniel Ricciardo is seething about the “cold- blooded” response from television broadcasters to Romain Grosjean’s horror crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

A victorious Lewis Hamilton kept his composure, then praised Formula One’s safety systems after Grosjean escaped from a frightening fireball.

The newly- crowned seventime champion cruised to his 11th win this year in his Mercedes, with a masterful drive in challenging circumstances.

But after securing a record- increasing 95th career victory ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen during a late safety car intervention, the Englishman was quick to compliment the sport’s modern safety standards for saving the Frenchman, whose Haas car broke in two on impact before erupting in flames.

Ricciardo said it was “disgusting” that the live TV broadcast continued to show a loop of replays of the scary crash during the hour- long break before the race restart.

The replays were already being repeated on the live broadcast and on screens around the Bahrain International Circuit before it was confirmed Grosjean was as in a stable condition.

“The way the inci- dent of Grosjean was broadcast over and over, the replays over and over, it was completely disrespectful l and inconsiderate for his is family,” Ricciardo said

Grosjean’s car rammed med into the barriers as he braked hard from 250km/ h, the e front part hammering into the steel guardrails, which buckled immediately.

Grosjean, 34, was taken to hospital with suspected fractured ribs and burns to his hands and feet.
