Shining light on our hospitality
Let’s eat our way around Tasmania this summer to support businesses when they need it most, says Erica Sheldon-Collins
THERE is no escaping the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on Tasmania’s hospitality sector. Shutdowns, border closures and restrictions on patron numbers and on events like weddings and functions have all taken their toll.
But as we begin to emerge out the other side and people start venturing out, the weather warms up and visitors return to the state, it is the ideal time to show our support for hospitality businesses across the state.
Let’s all get out there this summer and start eating and enjoying the best Tasmania has to offer.
The Eat It Tassie! campaign is a chance for the hospitality sector to showcase the amazing work it does.
It’s perfect for locals and visitors alike, showing you what to eat and where to go.
The campaign, and its associated register, provide a one-stop shop for hospitality venues, locals and visitors hungry for cafe, dining and other experiences.
It’s time for hospitality venues to take the spotlight in their own right.
As a crucial part of the state’s social scene and the economy, the hospitality sector will use Eat It Tassie! to promote their amazing food, people and events this summer.
It means you can experience the best that Tassie has to offer, no matter where you are in our great state.
While we have been encouraged this year to holiday at home, exploring tourist attractions and reinvigorating accommodation, now it’s time to eat our way around our home state.
Sometimes we can become complacent about the wonderful state in which we are lucky enough to live.
We forget to explore our own backyard or to look beyond our regular eateries.
Eat It Tassie! gives everyone a chance to try something new or find something different while doing their bit for the economy.
Cafes, bars, restaurants and wineries are urged to join the Eat It Tassie! register and make sure that everyone knows what they have to offer.
The summer period is a crucial time for us to help businesses fight back against the economic impacts of the pandemic.
This is so important because hospitality venues have absorbed such a financial impact.
It really is up to all of us to ensure these businesses have a big summer.
And at the same time we can fill our bellies with deliciousness and enjoy the benefits of COVID-safe social interactions.
Summer has always been a magic time in Tasmania.
And while things will look a little different this year, that’s no excuse for us to stay at home.
Our usual feasts and festivals might not be happening but there will still be plenty on offer and our food and produce continues to be among the best you will find anywhere.
Eat It Tassie! makes it simple to find all the information you need in one easy to access location.
Be sure to sign up and stay connected.
