The greatest choke of all time. The green team lost 7-19 in 30 bewilderin­g balls to crash from 0-93 to 7-112 in pursuit of a modest target.

2. BBL04 GRAND FINAL

Sixers 5-147 def by Scorchers 6-148 (20 overs) at Manuka Oval Retiring great Brett Lee was on a hat-trick on the final delivery and tailender Yasir Arafat needed one run to win the Scorchers back-to-back titles. A quick single was taken as Moises Henriques fumbled the ball and broke the wickets with his hand, squanderin­g a certain run-out chance as Perth got home.

3. BBL02 SEMI-FINAL

Stars 2-183 (18 overs) def by Scorchers 2-142 (13 overs) by Duckworth-Lewis method at WACA

The strangest finish in BBL history. James Faulkner bowled a no-ball on the final delivery, and Mike Hussey, who was dropped by Jackson Bird earlier in same over, hit the winning runs on the next delivery.

4. BBL03 SEMI-FINAL

Stars 8-141 def by Hurricanes 3-142 (18.1o) at the MCG

Tim Paine’s throwaway line that the undefeated Stars had a “never-ending salary cap” angered president Eddie McGuire so much he threatened legal action. Paine apologised but had the last laugh when his 65 off 52 balls helped stun the Stars.

5. BBL06 SEMI-FINAL

Heat 9-167 tied with Sixers 8-167 at Gabba Sean Abbott took 3-1 in the first four balls of the last over, only for Samuel Badree to force a Super Over with a four off the final ball. Moises Henriques hit Ben Cutting for two sixes, the Sixers set Brendon McCullum and Cutting a target of 23 runs, which Abbott defended by seven.
