MIRACLE GIRLS MEET MAGIC MILESTONE

- BLAIR RICHARDS

TWINS Henley and Jolene James, 4, will reach another milestone in their extraordinary lives when they start school this week.

The miracle twins conceived via IVF against all the odds will attend kindergarten at Eastside Lutheran College.

Their mum Joni-Lee James endured a difficult journey to motherhood as a single woman, battling pre-cervical cancer, early menopause, premature ovarian failure, depression, a miscarriage and seven cycles of IVF to finally become pregnant.

Ms James said she was “so excited” to see her girls start school.

“They’ve been in daycare since they were three months old because I am a solo mum working, they absolutely love other kids and socialising. They had a meet-and-greet at Eastside Lutheran a year ago and they loved it and they are so ready for it,” she said.

“I heard so much amazing feedback about Eastside Lutheran, it’s a small school with a community feel so I put them in the waitlist when they were one.”

The supermum from Geilston Bay not only juggled full time work and single motherhood, she also opted for a career change during her children’s early years.

“The first two years were quite easy I thought, but then I decided to do fast track nursing and working at the same time,” she said.

The twins have shown an early interest in the health field, inspired by their mum and the doctor who helped to bring them into the world.

“One wants to be a nurse and one wants to be a doctor, because my fertility specialist Dr Kee Ong … we’re basically family now. They call him Uncle Kee,” Ms James said.

“I’m always grateful to the team that got me to parenthood.”
