- JACK EVANS

WE ARE BOTH RELIEVED AND EXCITED TO BE DELIVERING THE GOODS TO OUR TASSIE COMPADRES.

BALL Park Music, Spacey Jane, Holy Holy and Kasey Chambers at Launceston’s Cataract Gorge. Do we have your attention?

That’s just a little taste of the next major festival to hit Tassie’s shores in late March as the live music industry continues its recovery from the COVID-19 restrictions.

Organisers in charge of reviving the Basin concert returned with a bang on Wednesday, revealing a full line-up for the two-day festival they say will “satisfy a range of musical tastes and

ages”. Headlining the March 26-27 event is Brisbane indie rock/pop band Ball Park Music, which recently released its self-titled sixth record and finished fourth in Triple J’s hottest 100 with its track, Cherub.

Hottest 100 alumni Spacey Jane, who took out second

spot with the track Booster Seat, will also be among the acts rocking out in the Gorge.

For those after a more Aussie-classics vibe, Kasey Chambers and Australian rock royalty Spiderbait will also be taking to the stage.

Plenty of home-grown talent will also be on display with the likes of Bec Stevens, Carl Renshaw, In the Flowers, Medhanit, Slaughterhaus Surf Cult and The Holiday Collective all prepared to please crowds.

Vibestown productions director Jesse Higgs said producers were “super stoked” to be bringing together this lineup for Tasmanian audiences.

“With the time frame we had and the testing conditions present, we are both relieved and excited to be delivering the goods to our Tassie compadres,” Mr Higgs said.

“Weekend tickets as well as individual day tickets will be limited, with capacity capped at 3000 entrants at any given time, due to COVID-19 restrictions,” organisers said.

The event is all ages, but under-18s will need to be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult over 21 years of age.

Pre-sale tickets will be available from 6pm Thursday, with general tickets released at 8am on Friday. They will be available from www.basinconcert.com.au.

The Basin concerts were originally held in the Gorge starting in 1969 but ended in 1999, returning briefly between 2014 and 2016.

At its height, the festival boasted crowds of up to 10,000 and was popular for touring artists and local acts.

In 2021, the Basin concert is back promising to bring together the best Australian music and local produce to Launceston’s Cataract Gorge.
