Finch opts for surgery to remove breasts

-

QUEENSLAND model Rachael Finch has revealed in a raw post to social media that she will have her breast implants – which she got at 17 – removed.

Finch posted to Instagram detailing her two-year struggle with the implants, revealing she was scheduled for surgery on Thursday to remove them.

The former Miss Universe Australia winner from Townsville said she was “excited and … also shaking with fear” in the lead-up to the surgery, after revealing one of the implants had been ruptured for some time.

“Two years ago, I woke up and noticed one was a little different to the other. I immediately went in for an MRI (after) which the doctor told me I had a capsular contracture in my left breast,” Ms Finch told her Instagram followers.

“I started getting pain in my left breast which became bad and other symptoms – I’ve been in and out of clinics for months, until last week I was told my left implant was in fact ruptured.”

Having had the implants since she was 17, Finch described them as being “a part of me for pretty much all my adult life” but implored her followers to “listen to your instincts” whenever it comes to your body and to trust yourself if you feel “something is not right”.

“We won’t know until after the operation just how much damage has been done. I will wake up a few hours from now in a world of pain, with small/ no boobies, unable to hold my children, but a weight off my chest like no other,” she wrote.
