Double boost for Knights as Two Blues lie in wait

A CONFIDENT Kingborough outfit will be buoyed by a pair of key inclusions for this weekend’s huge two-day clash with the Two Blues beginning on Saturday at Lindisfarne Oval.

The Knights found their groove in last week’s 18-run win over the Bucks and will look to continue their winning ways against the Two Blues with the addition of key duo Clive Rose and Anthony Adlam.

Rose returns to the side after recovering from Covid, while Adlam will make his long-awaited return after six weeks out with a broken collarbone.

Knights paceman Alex Vincent said his side was raring to go after last week’s win over the Bucks.

“We are feeling really good at the moment and I think we’ve just hit some good form coming into the important part of the year,” he said.

“With our win last week we made the semi of the one-day fixture so we’re up and about and full of confidence going into this weekend.”

Vincent, fresh off his 3-43 performance in the win over the Bucks, said he was proud of how his side had battled without a host of its top-tier players and its ability to not rely on one or two performers.

“I think it really shows the strength of our club and we always have a good second and third grade side so we can always cover when blokes are out.

“We knew we’d have to play without some of the guys with ‘Niv’ (Nivethan Radhakrish

nan) away for the Under 19 World Cup side and Beau (Webster) with state duties and the Big Bash as well, so it’s been great to have the depth to still perform and it’s something we really pride ourselves on.”

The Knights will come up against the third-placed Two Blues, which Vincent said were a team that wasn’t too dissimilar to his own.

“They are pretty similar to us in that they don’t have outright stars, they’ve just got a good even line-up across the board,” he said.

“It should be a really good game and a good chance for a couple of top-four teams to battle it out.”

The Knights and the Two Blues will get under way at 10.30am on Saturday.

In the other matches University will host the Raiders, Clarence will host the Demons, and the Bucks will host Glenorchy.
