TikToker in court over bungled Kmart robbery

A TIKTOK star tried to steal clothes from the New Town Kmart but was busted by staff when she forgot to remove the tags hanging from the back of her pants.

Alannah Leonie Cliffe (inset) faced the Hobart Magistrates Court on Monday after pleading guilty to one count of stealing and one count of drug possession.

The influencer, who goes under the TikTok handle “@alannahadhd”, has more than 9000 followers and 280 videos.

Her stealing offence took place at 2.09am on December 21 last year when Cliffe and a male friend walked into the New Town Kmart.

Cliffe entered a change room with 14 items of clothing, put them on, and tried to leave the store, but staff noticed a tag on her jeans.

Police were called, and when officers stopped and searched Cliffe they found items stuffed into her ugg boots and crammed into her pockets.

She was also wearing bracelets she hadn’t paid for.

The drug offence goes back to September 2021 when she crashed her car into a metal and concrete power pole on Walker St Rosetta about 7.30pm.

The car crashed into the gutter, causing the wheel to snap off the axel while making a banging noise that could be heard down the street.

When police arrived they found a ziplock bag with meth stuffed into her bra as well as a number of prescription medications in her car.

She did have prescriptions for some of them, but she did not have prescriptions for the methylphenidate tablets and tramadol capsules.

Her defence lawyer said his client suffered from mental health problems such as OCD and ADHD, which led her to “act in ways she would otherwise not act”.

“She’s made some poor decision making in the past, which she accepts and understands,” the lawyer said.

Cliffe was given a 12-month community corrections order and a criminal conviction for her controlled drug possession and stealing charges. She apologised for her actions.
