Holmes to lead the way
A MEMBER of Mona’s management team has received a coveted national scholarship for women business leaders.
Philippa Holmes, director of facilities and assets at Mona, has won a 2022 Chief Executive Women (CEW) Census INSEAD Leadership scholarship.
Ms Holmes will join fellow scholarship recipient Dr Hwee Sin Chong, of Darling Downs hospital, to undertake a leadership course at the INSEAD business school in France.
Chief Executive Women Tasmania chapter chair Katie Cooper, who is also CEO of Metro Tasmania, said Ms Holmes’ scholarship was a fantastic achievement.
“CEW’s purpose is all about women leaders enabling women leaders and it is wonderful that a Tasmanian woman has just been selected as a winner for the nationally competitive scholarship,” Ms Cooper said.
“I am so excited that Philippa Holmes will attend the INSEAD Leadership Transition program in France in 2023. CEW offer about 30 scholarships per year and I’d love to see more Tasmanian
women applying and winning.”
Ms Holmes’ job involves the custodianship of Mona’s buildings, working with a team on the organisation's “year-round chaos” of exhibitions and festivals.
Born and bred in Tasmania, Ms Holmes’ career in events and asset management has taken her full circle to her home state via the UK.
She said she was honoured to receive the CEW scholarship.
“I want to provide a positive impact to our organisation, while not messing with the fabric of what makes Mona an amazing and unique place to visit and work,” she said.
“I’m hopeful that the ripple effect of this opportunity with CEW and INSEAD will create a path for emerging leaders – both at Mona and in the wider lutruwita/Tasmanian community – to follow unconventional career paths to their dream role.
“I like that the course content allows you to walk away from the INSEAD Leadership Transition course with practical and personal skills that you can implement immediately – 2023 is set to be a fun year.”
